You can find McDonalds in the big cities around Egypt and the menu does have a few unique items. As I have mentioned before it’s not only a comfort food when you have been traveling long term but is also a good way to compare the cost of things from country to country. And I will admit I made several stops at McDonalds while I was in Egypt as I was not too fond of Egyptian food. Usually if I ate somewhere with a set menu that didn’t satisfy me I would stop there on the way home. The first thing I check is the price of a BigMac meal as this item is universal everywhere and here it costs about 1/3 what it costs in the US.  A single BigMac costs $1.62 and a meal is just under $3. (Side note: we found Pizza hut to be even cheaper – Pepperoni pizza, salad, 6 chicken wings and 2 drinks for $8.50)

The prices were pretty good and the beef was the same as in the US but the menu only had a few unique items.
