Disappointed in Kandy we couldn’t wait to get out on the loop. Plus it was time to get our Tuk-tuk.  Our hotel held our luggage and we just packed up a day bag each. The rental company had someone bring the Tuk-tuk to our hotel and from there he took us for my mandatory road test. Never drove a Tuk-tuk before but passed no problem. Once we worked out a license problem, we were on our own. The plan was to do a loop north of Kandy with Sigiriya Rock as the main attraction.  We got a large Bluetooth speaker with the Tuk-tuk and had music blasting as we cruised through the country side. It was so much fun. Along the way we found a roadside place to eat with the best food yet. We were far off the tourist trail and it was obvious they hadn’t seen many white people by the way everyone starred and by the white people prices we got but it was all good. We made one quick stop at a temple before finally reaching the small tourist town where Sigiriya Rock is located. After dropping off our bags we quickly headed right back out to do a hike at sunset. Next to the main Sigiriya Rock there is another rock you can climb to get a view of the bigger rock so we wanted to conquer that one first. The climb only took 45 minutes but it was extremely crowded as it’s a holiday here and all the locals are off all week. As soon as we got to the top we got hammered with a crazy downpour and high winds. Quite sketchy but thrilling. The storm passed quickly and we made it down safe but it will go down as a climb we won’t forget. Between that and the fun we had cruising in our Tuk-tuk today was a great day. We both agree Sri Lanka is quickly moving up our favorite country list. With only a few days left we are already looking forward to returning for the Tuk-tuk tournament next year. Our 2nd group tour we have planned for 2024. Tomorrow we take on the big Rock!
